Integration, Software & AI Development
You are no longer hostage to vendor roadmaps.
For decades, organisations have been forced to choose from a limited set of vendor platforms: software that is expensive, slow to change, and rarely fits how your business actually works. You have adapted your processes to fit the software, not the other way around.
That era is ending.
AI-assisted development has changed that. Not by making software cheap, but by putting a platform built around your workflows within reach of organisations it was never within reach of before. The question moved from "can we justify this at all" to "is this the right thing to build".
This is not hype. We are building AI-powered platforms right now, including the Pragmatix Advisory Portal you can reach from this site.
Four things changed at once
Traditional vendor software dominated healthcare, childcare, aged care and community services because development used to be slow and expensive. Organisations had no choice but to accept what vendors offered. That has changed.
AI coding assistants
Work that used to take a team weeks can be drafted in hours. Drafting was never the hard part, but it was a real cost, and that cost has come down.
Low-code platforms
Mature enough now for rapid application development without traditional programming for a large class of problems.
Cloud infrastructure
No data centre to build. Enterprise grade platforms deploy on Azure, AWS or Google Cloud with minimal upfront investment.
Integration standards
APIs, webhooks and HL7 FHIR in healthcare make connecting systems together easier than it has ever been.
The result: organisations can build exactly what they need, matching their workflows, their terminology and their way of working.
What AI-assisted development does not change
It has changed what is worth building. It has not made building a production system cheap, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling you the first version, not the one you will still be running in five years.
Architecture still decides whether it survives
How your data is modelled, where it lives, how tenants are separated. Generated code does not make these decisions, and they are the expensive ones to reverse.
Code still has to be reviewed
AI-assisted development produces plausible code quickly, which makes review discipline more important rather than less. A senior architect is accountable for what ships.
Security is designed in, not added
Secrets handling, tenant isolation, dependency management, and the evidence an enterprise buyer will ask for. Retrofitting any of it into a live platform costs more than building it in.
Someone has to support it
A system nobody but its author understands is a liability however fast it was built. Documented design, a maintainable codebase, and a plan for who keeps it running.
What has genuinely changed is where the effort goes. Producing the code is faster, so more of an engagement is spent on the decisions that determine whether the thing lasts: the design, the security, and who can support it. AI-assisted development does not so much reduce the bill as change what the bill buys. We will tell you what it costs before you commit.
Re-use before you buy, buy before you build
Not everything needs to be custom, and we will say so. But when off-the-shelf software does not fit, you now have options that did not exist five years ago.
Integration
Your systems need to talk to each other. We design and build the connections, whether that is legacy systems, cloud applications or third-party services. We have built health integration engines on HL7 and FHIR, and we bring that rigour to every integration.
Custom software
When you need something purpose-built, we deliver. Modern development practice and AI-assisted coding, with a senior architect accountable for what ships: web applications, portals, workflow tools and business platforms.
AI-powered solutions
From intelligent automation to AI advisory tools, we help organisations apply AI practically rather than as a buzzword. We have built AI-powered platforms ourselves, so we know what works and what does not.
What we design and build
Each of these starts as a design problem rather than a build. The list is what the work tends to produce, not where it starts, and sometimes the answer is that you should buy instead.
These sectors have been underserved for years
Healthcare, childcare, aged care and community services. The platforms available to them are usually some combination of the following.
- Expensive, with rigid licensing models
- Slow to evolve, with features lagging what users expect
- Generic, forcing you to adapt your workflows to the software
- Difficult to integrate with anything else
- Built for compliance rather than usability
Sound familiar?
We have worked across these sectors. We understand the regulatory requirements, the clinical workflows, the funding models and the operational pressures, and we think these organisations deserve better tools.
AI-assisted development makes better achievable: a platform designed around how you actually work, that you own, rather than one licensed against a roadmap you do not control.
We are not theorising. We are doing this work.
PIMS
A governance platform for privacy, AI and security, built for Australian and New Zealand organisations: privacy impact assessments, AI assessments, supplier risk, data mapping, training and compliance reporting, aligned to the Australian Privacy Principles, the EU AI Act and the Essential Eight.
Pragmatix Advisory Portal
Six specialist AI advisors working to our consulting method and producing real documents, with a Pragmatix consultant reviewing what they produce. Architecture, security, tenant isolation, audit logging and a document pipeline.
We designed, built and run both. This is not someone else's work described from the outside, so open either one and look at it.
- Health integration engines. Connecting clinical systems on HL7 and FHIR
- Clinical decision support. Platforms that support clinicians in real time
- Business workflow platforms. Custom built for organisations whose requirements no vendor product fits
We have also led the architecture for major electronic health record and laboratory programs, from the buying side of the table. That is what lets us tell you when buying is the better answer.
Every engagement starts with your business, not the technology
Discovery
Your workflows, your pain points, your requirements.
Options analysis
Build versus buy, assessed honestly before anything is committed.
Design
A solution architected to your business, not to a vendor's template.
Build
AI-assisted development, iteratively, with your input at every stage.
Deploy and support
We do not deliver and disappear. We make sure it works in production.
Two things sit underneath all of it.
The Pragmatix Digital Transformation Framework (pX-DTF) is our method: how an engagement runs, from understanding the business through to support.
The Pragmatix Software Reference Architecture (pX-SRA) is our technology standard: the stack, the security baseline and the non-negotiables every build has to meet, including Australian data residency. Settled once and applied to each engagement, rather than re-argued from scratch or left to whoever happens to be building it.

If you are stuck with a vendor platform that does not fit, need disconnected systems to talk to each other, or want to build something purpose-built, let's talk.
